In response to World Blood Donor Day on June 14th each year, CHC Healthcare Group and the CHC Charity Foundation have been organizing the \u201cBlood Donation” event since 2021. This year marks the fourth consecutive year of the initiative. In alignment with CHC Healthcare Group\u2019s commitment to ESG sustainability and corporate social responsibility, colleagues were encouraged to roll up their sleeves, and surrounding friendly enterprises were also called upon to participate. Regular, scheduled blood donations not only save lives but also contribute to personal health. According to the World Health Organization, a single blood donation can save up to three lives, benefiting both recipients and donors.<\/p>\n

This year’s blood donation event was held on June 6th, despite the rainy weather. A total of 310 people participated, successfully collecting nearly 400 bags of blood. We are grateful for the donors’ kindness and for their contributions in helping maintain a safe blood supply.<\/p>\n

Dr. Peter Lee, Vice Chairman of CHC Healthcare Group and CEO of the CHC Charity Foundation, stated that this is the fourth year of the event. At the beginning of the year, colleagues are urged to know when the event will be held so they don\u2019t miss their chance to donate blood ever since then. The Taiwan Blood Foundation has highlighted that due to an aging population and declining birth rates, blood donations are expected to fall short of demand by 2027, making blood shortages more severe. Additionally, the Taiwan Blood Services Foundation has observed that the blood transfusion rate for hospitalized patients in Taiwan is rising faster than in other countries, with Taiwan\u2019s rate of hospitalized patients requiring blood transfusions reaching 12%, which is 3 to 4 times higher than in the United States. As the population continues to age, the demand for medical blood will increase. We hope that through continuous blood donation events, more people will recognise that regular blood donations are beneficial to society.<\/p>\n

This year, we continued our collaboration with various enterprises, offering two blood donation locations and setting up three large donation stations. We sincerely appreciate the support from surrounding enterprises, including BMW Taipei Long-Der Motors Co., Ltd., Treasure of Health Co., Ltd., the Nan-Neihu Branch of Hua Nan Commercial Bank, Creation Food Co., Ltd., <\/em>and the Warehouse Caf\u00e9<\/em>, who all contributed generously. The CHC Charity Foundation also provided meal boxes from the \u201cHappy Bakers\u201d bakery to express our gratitude to all donors. Special thanks also go to Shin Kong Security, Flytech Technology, Fortune Information Systems,<\/em> and Wende Club<\/em>, as well as the third squad of the Taipei City Fire Department<\/em> and local volunteers<\/em>, who set up booths promoting traffic safety and anti-fraud knowledge to remind the public to stay during the event.<\/p>\n

Regular blood donations boost metabolism and help maintain the body\u2019s iron balance, reducing the risk of cardiovascular diseases. However, over 15% of participants were unable to donate this time due to health factors, with low hemoglobin levels being the most common reason. We hope the public will pay more attention to their nutrition and health, so they can remain healthy and continue being happy donors who save lives while also benefiting themselves.<\/p>\n
